​"I have had a lifelong interest in astrology, although I have only an amateur’s understand on the field. I’d never had my natal chart read until I met Lino and did not know what to expect. ​For example, Lino explained that Chiron was in Pisces at the time of my birth. In astronomy, Chiron is a comet with an erratic trajectory in our universe. In Greek mythology, Chiron is a centaur who could heal others but could not heal himself. In astrology, Lino explained, chiron represents the wounded healer.

This was a big insight for me because it captures, in two words, something I’ve known about me for a long time but could not name: that I’m a wounded healer. The wounded healer understands the wounds in others because he himself is wounded. This explains one reason why I’ve always been in the service to others – as a business professional, as a teacher and elsewhere in my life. I am good at seeing how people – even countries – are wounded. I feel the wounds of others. Sometimes I take them on and wound myself even further.

Lino also explained that Saturn was in Capricorn when I was born, which captures the truth of my father: that he was volatile, abusive and strict to the point of being dictatorial. My father was brutal and cruel. In his view, his children could be only failures. His sport was to humiliate us both within the family and in public. He hit, spanked, shoved and punched not often, but when he felt he needed to. Mostly, his damage was emotional and psychological. He victimized us kids – the four of us. And – I guess since my Saturn was in Capricorn and Chiron was in Pisces – I was especially sensitive to being a wounded healer.

Lino said one other thing I still need to think about. He said that we choose our lives – that I chose not only a wounding father and emotionally detached mother, but also where and when I would enter this world. It seems scary and sad that I choose an abusive father to raise and wound me. But there must have been a point to that. And now, maybe I can figure it out."
